Victoria Falls, Zambia
August 2022
Our first stop was Victoria Falls. Even though the trip was animal focused, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to see one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
The falls were a 5 minute walk from our hotel, Avani. It was impossible to capture the entire waterfall in one photo. The park consisted of a long trail that ran along the cliff opposite the falls. Hopefully the pictures I took allow for an impression of the entire scene. Because it was the dry season, the water level was relatively low, but the mist was still significant.
Back at the hotel, we spent time hanging out with the lawn zebras that roam freely around the grounds. Elizabeth was in heaven!
We finished our stay with a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. There was plenty to see, including elephants (who knew they were such good swimmers?), hippopotami, crocodiles, various types of birds, and other little cruise ships.
